Why Piano Lessons?

Piano lessons are an investment. An investment that can pay high dividends if properly managed.

Parent Magazine recently highlighted six benefits music lessons offer students of all ages:

1.) Improves academic skills.

2.) Helps develop physical skills.

3.) Cultivates social skills.

4.) Refines discipline and patience.

5.) Boosts self-esteem.

6.) Introduces children to other cultures.

And we'll add one more.

7.) Fosters a life-long love and appreciation for music.

So, as you can see, there are many benefits (and much more not listed) for students involved in music lessons.

The piano is a great place to start because it lays the foundation for a solid musical foundation. The layout of the keys allows students to more easily understand musical concepts, such as melody and harmony.

"Chris is a wonderful teacher who has lots of patience and passion for teaching piano."

"Chris showed me a completely new way of envisioning music- making one 30-minute piano lesson an intricate piece of the lifelong, indulgent art that is music!"

"Camden is a student who learns by ear, and Chris was able to target this method of learning and teach him accordingly. He learned more in two years with Chris than in the prior five years combined."

FAQ's

  • Can I try piano out? It's always nice to try things out before committing just to see if it's a good fit for your family. The FREE trial piano lesson give you a chance to "try out" piano before commiting to regularly scheduled lessons.

  • How much do lessons cost? Our tuition and fee structure is simple and affordable. You only pay for the lessons you receive each month. Tuition rates may vary depending on the length of the weekly lesson. On average, you can expect to pay $120-150/month for private piano instruction (30-45-minute lessons).

  • Do I need to own a piano? If you would like in-home piano lessons, then yes, you will need a piano for you or your child to play on during the lessons. But even if you'd rather drive to the teacher's private piano studio, owning a piano is the best way to ensure you get the most out of your investment. You don't have to purchase an expensive upright or baby grand piano to take lessons. There are lots of affordable electric keyboard options that exist. We can help answer questions and make recommendations.

  • Do you offer recital opportunities? Expedition Piano holds one recital each semester (2 per year) to challenge and encourage students in their musical journey. The biannual recital fee is $25. This fee helps cover the cost of the venue. The recital comes highly recommended, but it's not mandatory.
